Mark Friedberg undertook his medical school education and pediatric residency in Israel. He trained as a pediatric cardiologist at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in California where he also completed a senior fellowship in pediatric echocardiography and cardiac imaging. At Stanford he was awarded a Glaser Pediatric Research Network fellowship for the years 2005-2006.
Dr Friedberg was appointed as a staff cardiologist at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada and an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in 2006 where he is currently a staff physician in pediatric and fetal echocardiography. His research interests include assessment of ventricular function in pediatric congenital and acquired heart disease, tissue Doppler and deformation imaging in children and assessment of mechanical dyssynchrony and biventricular pacing in children. He holds a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for assessment of ventricular function in pulmonary hypertension and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.
