After attending college Dr Worley worked for 3 years as a project engineer, developing advanced circuit board technology. Following medical school he did residency training at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY followed by a cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center where he became an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He then moved to the Mayo Clinic to become Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Electrophysiology section. Subsequently he became Director of Electrophysiology at Lancaster General from 1987-2003. Currently he is President & Medical Director of the Lancaster Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as Director of Research at Lancaster General Hospital. He has been the local principal investigator for several multicenter clinical trials including GUSTO, MUSTT, SCDHeFT, Contak CD ICD Easy Track CRT trial, MIRACLE-ICD, PAVE, MENDMI and BLOCK-HF. He is on the steering committee for BLOCK HF and Promote Q. Dr Worley conducted several single center trials on stroke, bi-atrial pacing, comparison of LV leads, multisite LV pacing, subclavian and coronary vein venoplasty. He is the first author on several papers and book chapters on interventional device implantation including transseptal LV lead implantation, the use of snares, balloon anchor techniques, subclavian and coronary vein venoplasty. He holds several patents for devices used in cardiology and electrophysiology including a commercially available delivery system for left ventricular lead implantation.
